Professional Background

My name is Stephanie Bathurst, a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Maryland (AAMFT affiliate) and a Board Certified Clinical Sexologist (TCA affiliate). I earned a Doctoral degree in Clinical Sexology at the International Institute for Clinical Sexology in Miami, FL. My Master's degree was received from La Salle University in Clinical Counseling, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, with a secondary track in Addictions Counseling. My private practice was founded in 2014.

I am a certified Integrative Medicine Specialist for Mental Health, which allows me to apply a holistic approach to mental health healing and recovery. Additionally, I am a Certified Life Coach, having completed training with the Certified Life Coach Institute. I have certifications in Kink-Conscious Therapy, Discernment Counseling, Trauma-Art Narrative Therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique as well as specific training in domestic violence recovery and working with person's managing HIV. 

Appointment times for Bathurst Family Therapy, LLC can range from as early as 9:00 am to as late as 9:00 pm, Monday - Thursday. I do not have weekend hours available. My true passion is engaging couples who have lost one another in the journey of life; helping them to identify maladaptive communication patterns, boundaries or general needs that may be impeding them from enjoying their time together. I work with heterosexual couples, lesbian and gay couples and multi-partner relationships. Sexual dissatisfaction, fulfillment and dysfunctions are also a professional interest in mine, seeing as these worries often intersect with relational difficulties. I am a Certified Discernment Counselor which enables me to work with coupledoms where one, or both, parties are uncertain about whether to stay or go in the relationship. I work well with clients of military and law enforcement backgrounds, and their families, understanding the hardships and transitions that are associated with this lifestyle. 

Due to current health concerns from COVID19, I have paused most sessions in my home office in Woodstock, MD and am offering virtual sessions via HIPPA-Compliant video forums, such as Zoom. Fees are based on a sliding scale, which can be referenced in the Client Resources tab above. I am currently accepting new clients and encourage you to review the rest of my site for a more personal look.
