Treating Vaginismus with Guided Imagery Scripting
Developed and Copyrighted by Bathurst Family Therapy, LLC. I strongly recommended seeking out a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist in conjunction with an educated Sex Therapist for the treatment of Vaginismus, Dysparaenuia or other sexual pain disorders. Relational Contract QuestionnaireEvery relationship has a contract, whether it is conscious and verbal, unconscious and verbal or unconscious and non-verbal. Our behaviors, responses and expressions of need define the contract that we have with our partner. Often, couple's seek my guidance when their contract has not been able to be flexible to life's transitions or if each individual's contract seems to oppose one another. I strongly advise that review of the questionnaire be mediated with a professional. Please use a copy of my professionally developed and extensive list of contract topics. It is vital to reflect on your own needs, expectations and absolute limits before any attempts to mesh with your partner are made.

First. Brew a warm cup of coffee or tea. Focus your mental and emotional energy solely on the dispensing of coffee into your favorite cup or the coloration transition in a tea that is steaping. When ready, sit in a neutral space with mild stimuli. Get comfortable. Give yourself permission to "Just Be" for the next 5-10 minutes as you enjoy this present moment. What are your sense telling you? How many stimuli are you now able to hone in on now that you have cleared your mind of worry from the past and fear for the future?
Example: I sit outside on my back porch with a hot cup of Green Jasmine tea in my favorite blue seashell mug. Closing my eyes, I am now able to gain awareness: My eyes feel heavy without my ritualistic dose of morning caffeine, the cups warmth into my palms radiate comforting energy up into my arms and help to relax my tense shoulders that carry the stress of a day that has not yet started. I am aware of the sparrow and his friends jumping throughout the Magnolia tree. |
